The ARTISAN Focus Group in Spain took place in May 2017 at University of Castilla-La Mancha, over three sessions: a session with young members of family businesses of agro-tourism and crafts; a session with senior members of family businesses of agro-tourism and crafts; and a joint session with senior and young member of family businesses.
During the focus group, the ARTISAN project was presented and great emphasis was given on the challenges for the succession of small family businesses in agro-tourism and artisan sector. Great discussion took place on the methods of succession and transfer of the business, the motivation to do so, the process, the issues related to management and strategy, the new opportunities, etc. and the critical skills and abilities to successfully address succession. The participants were asked to evaluate the main competences necessary for the succession, transfer and continuity of their businesses.
The participants valued the experience positively and were really grateful for this great initiative.
